I am worried someone will look at what I'm recording. How can I keep them secure?

The MoodLinks icon is very discrete to help you maintain privacy, and an App sure does beat a piece of paper! You can also add a passcode lock on your mobile phone and/or turn on the Recovery Record Passcode lock in the settings section - you will be the only one with the access to the passcode and the App.
