So, why shouldn't I just use Recovery Record on my own?

I am embarrassed about showing my record to a clinician or think I might be beyond help.

Keeping a record and sharing it with a health professional you trust has four BIG benefits:

  1. Help you try out new skills to get back to a healthy relationship with food and your body, and recognize temptations and risk factors that might be getting in the way of lasting change.
  2. Your Recovery Record provides the most accurate way to make decisions about the changes that will make the biggest difference for you.
  3. A specialist can provide expert evaluation of whether or not the changes you are making are working and help you to fine tune goals as you go.
  4. Allows for constructive change and knowledge that will serve you in the months ahead and for the rest of life!

You may have all sorts of fears about what will happen if you do reach out and share your record - but you will feel relieved once you do and will not be alone in taking on what might be the most important feat of your life.. Telling someone about your worries and challenges and seeking help is a very important step toward living a full, eating disorder free life!
