You can use the Family App on your own. You do not need to be connected with a clinician to access the caregiver-focused tools, resources, strategies, and affirmations or to use the app to monitor meals and keep track of what is happening at home.

When possible, however, we encourage using the Family App alongside a treatment professional. Eating disorder recovery can be complex, and your treatment team can help you understand patterns you are noticing, determine what information is most useful to track, and provide guidance based on your child’s individual needs and stage of recovery. Connecting with your clinician through the Family App also allows them to see what you are recording between sessions. This can provide valuable context about how things are going at home and help you and your treatment team use your time together more effectively. The Family App is designed to support and strengthen the important work you are doing at home, whether you are using it independently or as part of your child’s treatment team.
