Why do my patient and I have to be in the same compliance zone to link?
Recovery Record has two compliance regions, Europe and Non-Europe. EU law around privacy and data storage (GDPR) is incompatible with US law around HIPAA. e.g. GDPR does not allow data to be “exported” to USA. So a European based patient's data cannot reside on a USA server and be made available from their to a USA based Clinician.
We have decided to treat all of Europe separately from the rest of the world. The two compliance regions have completely separate infrastructure. For a patient and clinician to link they must be in the same compliance region as to not be exporting data from EU to USA or vice versa.
If you believe you or one of your patient's has been assigned to the incorrect region, please contact us through support.
patient's can check their compliance region in their app under 'More' > 'Settings' > 'Compliance Region'"
